5.0 out of 5 stars Eden Organic Beans, October 6, 2010
This review is from: Eden Organic Black Beans, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
We ordered the Eden Organic Pinto Beans, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) and Eden Organic Black Beans, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6). The quality of the beans is great, in my opinion...and of course I love that they are organic...but as another reviewer said - I thought the beans were out of date. I THOUGHT they were out of date, but after contacting the company though edenfoods.com I found out that the dates are just confusing on the packaging. When I saw "Best Before: 12DE07" I figured they expired December 12, 2007. The customer service representative that contacted me said the first two digits represent the year...meaning my beans are good until December 07, 2012. Good to know!

Eden Organic makes amazing products, including beans in BPA-free cans. They're careful with their sources and with their packaging, so I don't mind paying a little extra for products that I trust.

But the price still seemed like a lot to me for beans, so I went to my local food coop to see what they charged for organic beans. It was the same price per pound for loose organic red beans, and that was the only kind of organic beans they had.

The beans themselves are good quality and cook up deliciously.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Gluten/Wheat Free, October 1, 2011

I bought these hoping to make it a staple in my family's diet. When we received them, we noticed that Eden Foods has a disclosure on the label (not included in the Amazon description). It says that the beans are processed on the same equipment as wheat. I do not feel safe using these beans in our family since we have gluten intolerance/sensitivity.
